Reboot 2009
MacSpecialist, Chicagoland’s largest Apple Authorized Reseller, Service Provider and Training Center is hosting Reboot: A Consumer Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, May 16th 2009 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to come out, donate and recycle their unused computers and other consumer electronic equipment at MacSpecialist, located at 234 West Roosevelt Road in Villa Park, Illinois in the Villa Oaks Shopping Center.
As recycling electronics typically has a price attached to it, this event offers the community a great opportunity to donate and recycle electronics FREE of charge. In appreciation for aiding in our efforts, promotional value cards redeemable towards purchases at one of MacSpecialist’s two retail locations will be given to every household or organization that brings something recyclable. These value cards will hold varying store credit dollar amounts. The store credit dollar amounts will remain unknown until the time of purchase. One lucky participant will unknowingly draw a value card worth $1,000 in store credit!

HOST YOUR NEXT RECYCLING EVENT!
Undertanding what you want your program to accomplish is an essential first
step.
Among the common motivations for hosting a Recycling Event are:
- Compliance with a law or policy
- Encourage reuse and charitable donations
- Increase solid waste diversion
- Decrease toxicity of the solid waste stream
- To keep all computers from households out of the trash
- To provide an environmentally sound system for managing all electronics
Some programs collect any and all electrical and electronic equipment. If the
objective of the program is to maximize diversion from disposal this may
be an appropriate strategy. It may, however, be quite costly. Many of these
items contain circuit boards and/or batteries but have little or no value to the
recycler. In fact, they may have to pay to have the materials processed:
particularly in the case of air conditioners and dehumidifiers which contain
CFC's.
Another fundamental question is who may participate in the program.
Define the audience that you are trying to reach:
- Residents
- Schools
- Municipal buildings
- Small businesses
These are just a few items to think about. Talk to MRK to help guide
you through this process. We have the experience.

Township in Park Ridge in the summer 2005.
